Movie Night

Hi boys and girls- my name is Ethel, or if your parents taught you well, Mrs. Falkenberg. I promise that everything I am about to tell you is true- or, in my advanced age, I just misremembered.

Shorty yelled from down the hall, “Oh, and Katherine called, and asked you to call her back when you had a minute.”

Ethel went over to her home, landline phone, with the same number that she, and Harold, had for the last 50 years. While she was getting comfortable, finally, with her cell phone, she still had an attachment to that old home phone.

“Katherine, it is Ethel- everything ok dear?” she began. “Oh yes, I will grab my favorite 2 action movies! I would love a movie night! I will even bring the VCR!”

Ethel showed up at Garrick’s place- well, Garrick and Katherine’s place, in her Aircar, parked in her usual spot, and carried 2 videotapes, a vcr, and cords to hook it up to a “modern tv”, as Shorty had admonished. He had, oddly, also given Ethel a hug good bye, which struck Ethel as suspicious- she would have to see if Jake had been up to something tonight.

Katherine practically squealed when she saw the 2 movies Ethel had chosen- Jaws and Lawrence of Arabia! “I love Peter O’Toole! These are great!” Katherine then revealed her 2 picks, which were Wonder Woman and Die Hard.

“Ooooh, I always thought Bruce Willis was hunky in a base way, perfect one night stand material,” Ethel confessed.

So, armed with 3 bottles of wine and popcorn, they got ready to watch the first movie. “How should we pick?” asked Ethel.

“I have the perfect plan! I will be right back!” Katherine comes bounding back with a strange pyramid with numbers on it. “I found this lying around – I think it’s Gare Bear’s. It is a 4 sided die… we have 4 movies, it will be perfect!”

Ethel laughs, and Katherine rolls a 3. “Wonder Woman,” they both exclaim, giggling, and they begin the movie.
