Karia’s Fan-Art Portrait

Description: Karia’s mutant abilities manifested as a change of her form, bringing a catalyst for her mental, social, and emotional growth.  When she takes on her dragon form, she embodies the essence of “True Form” for many of the downtrodden or fringes of society.  Her real identity was discovered shortly after she started to do Maverick work around Austin, but thanks to social media’s extreme powers of connectivity for the same groups of people that she inspires, it was obfuscated through misdirection and misinformation.  There are, in truth, two different groups that hold her up as a symbol. 

The first group, and the largest, is a fan club guided by several intelligent people that have stayed anonymous.  This group has used the fact Karia seems A-Sexual, and is a perfect example of the Japanese ideal of  ‘Androgyny,’ to make her into a champion of non-binary orientation.  Several versions of the “Quazi Tattoo” have made circulation, but the usual form is the symbol for Mercury, formed by the sinuous body of Karia’s Oriental-style dragon.  Dozens of Fan-Artists post new pieces quite frequently of all types (See some examples at bottom of page).  Urban Legends tell of people suddenly gaining super powers and fighting off attackers.

The second group, and very selective, is a handful of people that take the devotion to the Dragon Goddess to the next level.  They believe that if they stay in her presence they will gain ascension to dragon-hood. This belief is bolstered by the semi-frequent instances of temporary powers they get while in her presence.  They are called the Quazi-Nauts.  The current group of Quazi-Nauts are detailed below.  This group also uses the symbol of Mercury, but it’s brought back to its origin – Symbol of a god of power, change, commerce, communication.  They each have the tattoo somewhere on their bodies.
Both Groups started in Austin, though the first group is nation-wide, and the second group relocated to Century Station within a week of Karia’s move there.

Pull Punch Roll damage as per normal. Roll 1D20 + pull punch bonus; requires an 11+ to succeed. If successful reduce damage to any value between 0 and the amount rolled.
Disarm Counts as one melee attack. A strike, hold or grappling maneuver to cause the opponent to drop their weapon or handheld item. Can be a defensive move (needs a 19+ to succeed) or a strike roll (opponent defends as normal).
Automatic Parry Parry up to three attacks between melee actions for no attack loss. Fourth and more counts as a dodge.
Dodge Lose next action whether successful or not.
Entangle Counts as the next melee action. A defense that attempts to trap the weapon or arm of your attacker. Must roll higher than the attack roll; if successful the entangled can try to escape on their turn by rolling a dodge vs the entangling roll. Every melee round it’s maintained roll Entangle again as an attack/ action. Cannot make any other attack without releasing the entangle.
Roll with punch/ fall/ impact Must roll above attacker’s roll. Counts as next melee attack.
Arm Hold Use both hands to twisting the opponents arm around their back and immobilize them. If strike succeeds the victim is helpless until released. Any items in the hand of the arm being held can be easily removed. Neither of you can attack, parry, or dodge while hold is maintained. Victim can escape by rolling (1d20 + P.P.) vs your (1d20 + P.P. + P.P. bonus + any Hold bonuses); high roll succeeds.
Leg Hold Use both hands to force the victim on the ground with his leg held up. If the strike succeeds there’s no way for him to get up until the hold is released. Neither of you can attack, parry, or dodge while hold is maintained. Victim can escape by rolling (1d20 + P.P.) vs your (1d20 + P.P. + P.P. bonus + any Hold bonuses); high roll succeeds.
Body Hold Use both hands to force the victim into any number of wrestling holds. If the strike succeeds the victim can be immobilized on the ground or in a standing position. Neither of you can attack, parry, or dodge while hold is maintained. Victim can escape by rolling (1d20 + P.P.) vs your (1d20 + P.P. + P.P. bonus + any Hold bonuses); high roll succeeds.
Neck Hold Use both hands to hold the victim around the neck from behind. If the strike succeeds the victim is immobilized and totally vulnerable to attacks from any other character. Neither of you can attack, parry, or dodge while hold is maintained. Victim can escape by rolling (1d20 + P.P.) vs your (1d20 + P.P. + P.P. bonus + any Hold bonuses); high roll succeeds.

 

Character Bios:

Alyssa Herring is a Muslim from Mercy, Saskatchewan CA.  She’s average height and weight.  Her mother owns the local Beet Juice company.  Born 5th of 13, she’s a creative dental hygienist who is addicted to social media.  Though she is now atheist, she still wears a hijab covering her silver hair.  Her top qualities are that she is nice, courteous, and particularly hard-working.

Tommy Mejia is an eighteen-year-old father, who is traumatized by the loss of his brother when he was nine, and deals with the pain by stoking his gambling addiction.  He’s very short, and average weight.  He was born 6th of 6 to an upper class family in the British farm country.  He looks like he needs a good wash. He always carries a tape measure.

Kobe Barker grew up on a military base outside Tokyo.  He’s the 7th of 8 children.  He is built like a truck… a short beer truck.  He’s deathly afraid of Postal Workers.  He’s aggravated all the time.  His favorite way to decompress is to herd ducklings.

Shayan Peersen is a caring mother who finds it hard to stay out of jail. She’s the 5th of 5 children in a national politician’s family in Amsterdam, Netherlands.  People often compare her to a supermodel. She always carries a black umbrella. She is a complainer, and focuses on the worst of any situation. She uses her talent for poetry to heal the people around her instead of work on her own problems.

Jeremy Rees is a desperate merman from Houston that’s obsessed with chocolate. He has beautiful, red eyes. He comes from a working class family. His purpose in life is to find a soulmate.
