MAVERICKS

These superbeings are considered to be outlaw vigilantes who fight crime on their terms and often bend (if not break) the “law” in the process. Doing so in Century Station without the sanctioned approval of CHIMERA, thus are considered to be criminals fighting other criminals. Mavericks get their name from the Dawn Mavericks, a label put upon any non-deputized hero by certain news reporters to make them these unsanctioned heroes easier to identify in their stories. The Dawn Mavericks isn’t actually a formal group of heroes, just a moniker to refer to all non-deputized heroes, who in turn are known as Mavericks. Although the concept of the Dawn Mavericks never took root, the Maverick moniker did, and now it applies to all heroes who act on their own authority.
