What Have I Done?

What Have I Done?

Granny’s Moral Quandary Continues

Hi boys and girls- my name is Ethel, or if your parents taught you well, Mrs. Falkenberg. I promise that everything I am about to tell you is true- or, in my advanced age, I just misremembered.

Ever since my Brother came back in my life I have been on a rocket ride- or, more correctly, a spaceship ride! It is because of him, or an incident involving him, that I have powers. I want to use these powers for good, but our relationship keeps getting in the way.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my brother! I am thrilled that he has come back in my life! I am excited to spend more time with him, and the time when it just us, or he and I with the Shorties is wonderful!

It is only when we are involved in dangerous situations that I seem to lose my moral compass. I had spoken to Dr. Erikson about this previously, and he had made some good suggestions. The problem I have is during the actual moments Jake sweeps me up, and I seem to forget myself completely!

This happened glaringly today, when I fired upon a creature of Ice and some people. Jake told me to fire at them, and I just did it! I even hurt, or perhaps even killed, one of the people! I am tortured by this- I keep seeing her crumple up after the laser blast struck her! Jake does not seem to care if people die, and I have been able to prevent some deaths with my powers, but this I seemed to just be in the moment of protecting him, rather than thinking beforehand!

He even tossed a bomb of his own making, and I did not even stop him! Sure, I thought that the barrier that was protecting the pyramid “Might” protect people- but how many people died outside that protection? What if it had not protected the pyramid? Hundreds would have died!

I really need to stand up to my brother!

  1. Ethel went really wild in this game – it was nice to see her perspective (and regret) after the fact. Character growth!
